Now Hiring at Clearwater Consulting, LLC
We're looking for passionate, hardworking people who love the outdoors and want to build a career in Texas lake and fisheries management.
Build a Career on the Water
An Aquatic Field Technician in the private sector focuses heavily on servicing privately owned bodies of water. Clients include Homeowners Associations (HOAs), golf courses, corporate campuses, and private ranches or recreational trophy fisheries. Unlike state or municipal roles that emphasize public broad-scale ecology, private lake management is highly client-facing and focuses on aesthetic beauty, functional water quality, and maximizing sports fisheries.
Distinct Responsibilities in Private Management
Aesthetic & Algae Control
High priority is placed on keeping community and golf course ponds visually pristine. Technicians routinely treat for filamentous algae, duckweed, and invasive submersed vegetation using strict, targeted herbicide applications.
Mechanical Systems Care
Private lakes rely heavily on aeration to prevent fish kills and stagnation. Technicians dedicate significant time to installing, pulling, cleaning, and repairing submersed aeration systems and floating decorative fountains (brands like AquaElite, Kasco and Aquamaster).
Trophy Fisheries Management
Private ranches often manage for trophy largemouth bass. Technicians assist biologists with electrofishing surveys, weighing and measuring specimens, tagging fish, installing automated fish feeders, and coordinating specialized fish stockings (e.g., bluegill, threadfin shad, or tilapia for vegetation control).
Route Management
Technicians typically manage an assigned territory or service route, driving a company truck and trailer to visit multiple master-planned communities or private properties per day.
